| As a rape victim myself, I know how hard it is to tell anyone. Many women never tell. Until we live in a world free of rape, incest, hunger, poverty, less than perfect birth control, miscarriages, and pregnancy complications, and until there are no children waiting to be adopted, we must not make abortions illegal. Too many families are struggling already. There are women struggling with mental health or addiction issues. Some of those women may break if forced to become a mother and child abuse or neglect would increase. Plus, no child should be forced to carry. | |||

| Our state employees including our teachers are already underpaid. Ther can travel 20 extra miles into MD, VA, or PA for $20K more per year. I'm sure there are some positions that could be done away with in upper management, but in the hands-on positions, we are struggling to fill all the positions already. As far as tax increases, no one wants to raise taxes, but the taxes that the upper levels and big businesses are paying are lower than ever before. They keep getting tax breaks while the working class gets stuck with the bill. | |||

| There was already money allocated to help businesses and corporations that were negatively impacted. In Berkeley County it has been pretty much business as usual for quite a while. There is no more social distancing nor mask restrictions. Other than there being a shortage of certain items due to previous shutdowns, the cargo ships being held up or the war in Ukraine, prices of fuel and groceries have increased due to supply and demand globally. That is not hurting businesses alone, they pass their increased expenses onto us, the consumers. | |||

| There are pros and cons to adopting Federal Education standards. It would be good to have every state teaching the same curriculum and keep up with international standards, but it would add to the problem of teaching to "test". Teachers are forced to spend too much time prepping their students for tests already. They have difficulties engaging the students and can't delve into subjects that interest them most. Teachers should be given more freedom to teach as they know best. I think we need to make it easier for immigrants to become legal citizens, we need them in our workforce. | |||

| I never really thought about it, so I wouldn't say I am for or against a required license. I don't see why that would be such a terrible thing, but I'm sure many would say it's just a way for the government to keep track of who has what. I have a conceal carry permit, so I'm not against the 2nd amendment. I'm not coming for your guns. I do believe we can do better and should have more common-sense gun laws and better background checks, and close loopholes that allow purchases without those. | |||

| In cases of vaccinations required to attend schools, I don't think it is good to allow unvaccinated children to risk spreading illnesses to children and families that met the requirements. Homeschooling or private schools of the religion in question may be a good option. Ultimately, it is one's own personal choice. Sadly, those that refuse to comply, don't care about how it could harm others. | |||

Just because something is different than what someone likes or is accustomed to or understands, it doesn't give them the right to discriminate for any such differences. | |||
| I have been an active community service member for years. I have made a difference to many families and individuals in our area. I am a "people person", and I take the time to talk with and listen to those I meet. I want to help get our state off of the bottom of the rankings, starting with education, health and addiction. We live in a perfect location and have the resources we need to succeed. We just need to work together, regardless of party affiliation, and get things done. Our children's future here depends on it. | |||
| We have to get and keep good, qualified teachers here. There is a shortage everywhere, which hurts us even more since many of our teachers are now traveling out of state for more money. We must get them more pay, even if it's only a locality pay. Berkeley and Jefferson Counties are surrounded by 3 higher paying states. Our county has been growing substantially, yet the developers haven't been held accountable for any additional costs to our infrastructure. We can't keep giving huge tax breaks to corporations that don't put money back into our state. |
